LEARN ABOUT BARRY

Barry began his career with internships at Xerox, toy design in Baltimore, graphic design & signage in Cincinnati and museum exhibit design in New York, till he began applying his creativity to advertising. As an account executive, writer and producer, Barry wrote and produced hundreds of radio commercials that were aired around the country. Those campaigns went into syndication and expanded to other forms of retail media. He was then recruited by a large, retail, buying group in Atlanta as General Manager of the Communications Division. There, Barry was responsible for strategic planning, sales, profitability and creative development. Once the word got out about Barry he was scooped up by DuPont as their Advertising and Brand Manager, where he honed his skills at a corporate level, with creative promotional strategies for retail and wholesale manufacturing. Barry also led the business development and productivity improvement initiatives, including website design and Internet marketing.

Eager to return to New York, to be with his daughters, Barry accepted a position with The General Electric Company as their Global Marketing Communications Manager and provided creative direction, strategic insight and data base analysis in order to digitize the performance materials division. He designed and launched websites around the world, garnering a reputation for delivering results with transactional websites, search engines and marketing. Barry has lectured on branding, creativity and Internet strategies at tradeshows and conventions nationally, as well as being interviewed and published by multiple trade journals. As a demonstrated creative authority in the corporate environment, Barry joined Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) in 2004 as an Adjunct Professor of Design, to the Product Design & Innovation Program, as well as Professor of Advertising and Marketing Communication at the College of Humanities. He worked closely with Institute Advancement to identify prospective sponsors for the Engineering College’s Studio Design Lab and also served as guest lecturer on design, creativity and professional practice. Barry has exhibited his photos at galleries from New York to Florida, received the Course Directors Award five times, from Full Sail University, the Global Web Award for design excellence, the Maestro Award for design/functionality, and the Surfers Choice Award for content, design and originality.  He received an e Commerce Grant from the President of GE Plastics and the 1st place Communicators Award in Broadcasting.  He has been honored with the GE Executive Management Award and the GE Silicones Quarterly Excellence Award. He is affiliated with the Web Designers & Developers Association, The Advertising Council, The Internet Advertising Association, The International Advertising Bureau, The American Association of Advertising Agencies, The Association for Interactive Marketing, The Writers Guild and The International Filmwriters Association.

Barry resides in Sarasota, Florida and continues to consult globally on Advertising, Design and Creativity. He is a on the Marketing Committee at New College and has become a local authority on marketing and positioning to the Senior Consumer Market. Most recently Barry has completed his first screenplay and is in active pursuit of development partners.
